Both Boys and Girls Varsity Lacrosse Advance to State Semi-Finals

The Churchill Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team beat Sherwood at home Wednesday night 12-6 and the Girls team followed shortly with a 20-19 win away against Sherwood. Both teams advance to the State Semi-Finals this Saturday, May 19. The Girls play against Westminster at 2 p.m. at Franklin High School and the Boys play against Westminster at 4 p.m. at Franklin High School. Informational Meetings About Boys Soccer

Churchill Boys Soccer Informational Meeting: Students interested in trying out for Boys Varsity or JV soccer should attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, June 5 at 3:30 p.m. in the Churchill cafeteria. This meeting is open to current 8th-11 grade boys who will attend Churchill in the 2012-2013 school year. Topics of discussion will include summer fitness training, summer soccer camp options and try-outs in August.


Sports Physicals Offered June 14: Good for 2012-2013 Seasons!

Churchill student-athletes needing physical exams to play fall, winter and spring sports for the 2012-2013 school year can get them at Churchill High School on June 14, starting at 6 p.m. Middle School students may also register for a physical exam.

Medical staff from Montgomery Orthopaedics will conduct the physical exams. The cost per physical is $50, with proceeds to benefit the Winston Churchill High School Booster Club and its sports programs. For full details and to make an appointment, please LINK HERE.


Bulldog Youth Football Camp Registration Now Open

WHAT: If you are just starting out or have played on an organized youth team, this is the camp for you! The Bulldog Youth Football Camp is open to all levels, beginner through experienced. Our camp includes daily 7 on 7 competitions, plus speed and agility drills. Campers will develop football skills including passing, catching, punting, kicking, blocking and offensive and defensive strategies. Campers will receive individual instruction by the Churchill Football Varsity Coaching Staff. No equipment will be needed. There will be no contact during the camp.

WHEN: June 18 – 22, 2012 TIME: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

WHO: Rising 3rd – 9th grade students

WHERE: Winston Churchill High School, 11300 Gainsborough Drive Potomac, MD (Lower Field)

COST: $275.00 (includes camp t-shirt)

Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 9 for the 9th Annual Bulldog Golf Classic at Whiskey Creek Golf Club in Ijamsville, MD. Spring Sport Captains Honored at Booster Club Luncheon

The Winston Churchill High School Booster Club held its annual luncheon for captains and coaches of spring sports on Tuesday, April 24th. The event, one of three seasonal luncheons hosted for captains each year, honors Churchill's hardworking student-athlete-leaders. More than 40 JV and Varsity spring sport captains attended this Booster Club event, along with Athletic Director David Kelley (shown speaking), Principal Dr. Joan Benz and several spring coaches. The guests were treated to lunch from the Potbelly Sandwich Shop.


Thank You to All Who Supported the Annual Spring Gala!

More than 200 members of the greater Churchill Community came together on Friday, April 13th for a fun and casual adults-only evening, filled with bowling, live and silent auctions, music, food and more. It was a great night of socializing and fundrasing, all to support a great cause: our hardworking student-athletes.

Join Churchill Crew Offer Spring ‘Learn to Row’ Program

Churchill Crew, a co-ed community rowing team, will offer a ‘Learn to Row’ program for freshmen, sophomores and juniors who are interested in trying the sport. The one-year-old team practices on the water in the fall and spring, and conducts winter conditioning during the off season. Students are eligible to compete in regattas the season following the ‘Learn to Row’ program; no tryouts are necessary.

Crew is an all-body sport that promotes fitness, teamwork, and a high level of commitment and concentration. It is a sport that students can enjoy for a lifetime. Interested students should email ChurchillCrewTeam@gmail.com with their name, grade, phone number and parents’ names and emails.


Booster Club Accomplishments 2011-2012

Winston Churchill High School Booster President Wayne Cohen would like to thank the Booster Club Board Executive Committee, Board, and Utility Players for our 2011-2012 Accomplishments. Here’s a re-cap of just some of the Booster programs and initiatives underway this year:

· Safety Nets for JV & varsity Boys’ and Girls’ Lacrosse Teams and JV & Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer Teams.

· Physicals for Winter/Spring Sports

· Creation of By-Laws: Our new by-laws can be found online.

· Online Registration: The BC has entered the digital era! We can now take registrations online.

· Fundraising: There are many new fundraising activities happening this year, including sports phsicals, small group clinics, a Pampered Chef party and new sponsorhsip packages. These are supplemental to our annual Gala and Golf Outing.

· Board Members/Utility Players: We have greatly increased the size of the Board, and now have representatives from every sport! Our utility players also help with our important work.

· Improved Website: The BC has improved its website. Specifically, the BC created a more stream-lined approach to conveying information. This also assists with highlighting our sponsors.

· Newsletter: Our new newsletter format helps our members understand exactly what is happening in our WCHS sports community. Check here for current and back issues.

· Club/Team Policy: This year’s leadership has finalized the policy as it pertains to support of WCHS clubs such as Equestrian, Hockey, and Crew.

· Membership: Our membership numbers are higher than ever! Thanks to the WCHS community for Joining the Club!
